It all started as a filmworkshop in the Black Box of my filmschool Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sound in Brussels. Football and colonialism were indelibly intertwined in the life of Léon Trouet Mokuna. Léon Mokuna is in 1957 the first black African soccer player in the Premier Leage Team La Gantoise in Belgium. Léon Mokuna died on the 28th of January 2020. In this short movie Léon is reflecting on his life, in the presence of his grandson Jonathan.
Het begon als een filmworkshop in de Black Box van het RITCS met Léon en zijn kleinzoon Jonathan die vol geduld naar onze ideeën luisterden. Voetbal en kolonialisme waren op een onuitwisbare manier met elkaar verweven in het leven van Léon Trouet Mokuna. Hij was in 1957 de eerste zwarte voetballer van La Gantoise. Léon Mokuna stierf op 28 januari 2020.
